The River City Love Squad
is an incorporated non-profit ministry established to reach the homeless and
needy people in the city of Louisville, Kentucky. |
The mission
of the River
City Love Squad is to feed, clothe, and shelter the homeless and needy while
sharing spiritual love and the salvation message of Jesus Christ, taking
appropriate actions to rehabilitate, educate and disciple them back into
mainstream society. |
RCLS has a burden for the
souls of all people, and would like to see them saved through the shed blood
of Jesus Christ and fully restored by the grace and mercy of God. We
welcome participation from churches and charitable organizations. RCLS is
operated by a board of directors along with hired and volunteer staff. All
resources needed to operate the ministry are acquired through donations.

The History of RCLS:
The vision for the River City Love Squad came in 1999 when founder Col. Mike
Miller felt a burden after reading a newspaper article about how homeless
people living in the Bourbon Stock Yards would be displaced by the
building's pending demolition. He began with a few hundred dollars and a
hard-core following. Initially the group visited the stockyards each Monday
bringing food and the Word of God to the homeless people. From the
stockyards, the group began visiting other inner-city hot spots ministering
to the homeless and needy. |
Meetings
are currently held
Monday evening at 7:00 pm in front of the Grace Hope Education Bldg, at the corner of Clay & Breckenridge Streets.
Our services include praise & worship, a sermon of God's Word,
followed by a good hot meal and clothing distribution. Children's Church is
also available for all kids during the Monday evening services.
